Bits and bobs... bunnies

Time for a bits and bobs post and I never realised how many bunnies I have in this house!

Aren't they cute? There's a couple I made, others friends have made, a mini lego bunny with carrots and a tiny chocolate bunny who actually survived being eaten.

I've never had a bunny as a pet. I would rather like one! I'm not sure what Molly would think. Lyn and joked yesterday about getting a bunny and calling him Stuart (Rabbit Stu). I'm not sure I could do that, the poor thing, but there would be no way I'd make any bunny into stew.

I hope you had a nice, peaceful Easter. We watched some movies, visited family, spent time in the garden sorting out the compost and doing some pruning. Still more gardening to do though :)

Bits and bobs ... tea

I really want to get back into doing more Bits and Bobs posts this year as it's something I  really enjoy. This shot was part of the February 7 Vignettes photo challenge on Instagram. I shot it for the 'kitchen' theme.

 

We have a little old teapot form a local junk market, a pretty and very tiny tea caddy, a T2 teabag, a box of teabags and three beautiful pieces that my dear old Auntie Ila used to own - her teacup, a small spoon and tea strainer. I love owning these :)

 

I am definitely a tea girl. I think I drink about 2 or 3 coffees a year. It's just not my thing. I love the smell of it but there really is nothing like a really good cuppa, especially first thing in the morning (says she sitting here on the couch with the computer and her second cuppa for the day).

Bits and Bobs...Christmas

It has been such a long time since I have done a Bits and Bobs post - so here one is!

This theme is obviously Christmas decorations. I really enjoyed unpacking my deccies this year - I always seem to forget what I have and it's also nice to see my favourites again.

Above we have a new little felt hedgehog by Natasha from The Snow Queen's Garden, a couple of vintage style glass birds (the owl is new for this year - I love it), perspex by Dick and Dora, a red felt one made by me a few years ago, the spotty one which is actually a place name holder, a green bell, an old soldier from my parent's tree and the cupid which I brought back from the Tower of London in 1996 for Mum.

I'll be back with some more piccies of the tree and so on, as well as a Molly update.

Only 2 more days of work for me! So excited and really happy that I am actually organised! Unheard of for me, but that's great. I did want to write cards for a heap of people, but that just hasn't happened. I'm not going to worry and hope they/you don't either.

Bits and bobs... vintage buckles

Some bits and boobs for you this Monday and this time it's a little collection of vintage buckles. These came from my grandmother, Great Auntie Ila (she passed a year ago today - gosh that's gone quick) and some given to me by a lady at work. They're odd things but they're nice nevertheless.

Did you have a nice weekend? It was perfect here yesterday. I'm not sure what temperature it got to but it was super sunny. It was also Mum's birthday so we had afternoon tea at my sister's house. I baked mum a tiramisu layered sponge cake with almond praline. It was delicious, light but tasty. Easy-ish too.

What are your plans for the week? I have today and tomorrow work free so I plan on getting out into the garden to get the vegie patches under order. Time to get the tomatoes in, along with beans and corn I think.

Bits and bobs... francais

Like many of you, I have a bit of a 'thing' for all thing French, so for this Bits and bobs I am going francais.

What do we spy here?
 Some gorgeous old faded tricoleur ribbon, vintage blue lace, very old postcards featuring the Arc du Triomphe, an old perfume bottle that once held a concentrate of violets, a blue sparkly ring by Jacqueline Singh that my very good friend brought back from Paris for me on my 40th last year, a tiny bottle of the classic Chanel no.5, my very special Chanel brooch that I recently acquired (I finally spent my 40th birthday money after 11 months of thinking about it) and one of my handmade Paris pendants featuring an image from another of my vintage postcards.

Anything take your fancy? What is it about France? I don't know, just "something".
Can I admit to you that when I visited Paris for the first and only time (so far) in 1997 that I signed my name on the hand railing at the top of the Eiffel Tower? Call it graffiti if you will, but I think of it as my calling card and a promise that I will return :)

Bits and bobs... red

It's Bits and bobs time again and this time I have gone with the theme "red".

As much as I love blue, I also adore red, especially a good, clear cherry red. So, here are some of my red bits from around the house. My new red and still sharp scissors. I will not cut paper with them! A sewing machine needle case, lacking most of its needles, thread, a birdy Christmas decoration made by a friend, Lindt chocolate ball, a freesia from the garden, nailpolish ( I especially like red for my toes), pretty red apple sticky notes, washi tape and my gorgeous pre-loved Louis Vuitton vernis agenda (the colour is called 'pomme'). The glossy, almost sparkly surface is very pleasing to my eye.

Bits and bobs...vintage sewing

It's the start of a new week and I hope it's a good one for all of us. That also means that today is Bits and bobs day and this photo's theme is all about vintage sewing.

To be more specific, all these little bits came from an old, brown tupperware container that belonged to my dear Great Auntie Ila. She gave it to me a year or so before she passed away.

Ila was from the era of mend and make do, so she kept little buttons and bits that could have been used later on. Clothing was fixed, not replaced. Anyway, I love these bits and bobs.

We have an old thimble, threads, buttons, measuring tape, nappy pin, fasteners, a needle threader, fine thread for fixing stockings and some unusual needles (not sure of their use?).

Bits and bobs... green

Hello friends, here's my Bits and bobs for today and the theme is "green".

So, we have an odd mixture of bits today.

Green twine and washi tape, a biro, star sequin thingamies, an old necklace, sewing thread, my handy screwdriver, super handy mini measuring tape, lip balm and a New Zealand $20 note.

For some reason it's more difficult curating an image of similarly coloured items, as opposed to similar types of items. Probably because I have to look in more random places to source them.

Bits and bobs... vintage florals

Time for a new Bits and bobs and this time it's a little collection of vintage floral bits.

What have we got here? There are some old seed packet labels, millinery flowers, velvet leaves,

German glass stamens and some French beaded flowers. All so pretty I think :)

I hope you all have a lovely week. I have been busy sight-seeing with my friend but today is a relaxed, pottering day I think.

Bits and bobs... sparkle

It's Bits and bobs day and today I have gone with the theme "sparkle".

It's such a grey, rainy Monday that I thought some sparkle would be nice.

I love sparkly things and here we have some swarovski crystals, large clear sequins, vintage mini pastry cases, two lots of vintage buttons (love those heart ones), my special Chanel necklace and the most stunning length of handbeaded trim that I have had for years and haven't had a project special enough to use it.

And speaking of special, here's another photo of my baby niece Hannah who was born last Friday. This photo was taken yesterday. Look at all that hair!

Bits and bobs - the garden in July

Hello friends, I felt bad that I didn't post a Friday Flowers last Friday, but I've been knocked about by a yucky virus and haven't had the energy to do anything, not even blogging! I know, I was sick :)

I dragged myself outside to pick a few bits and bobs from the garden. It has been so rainy and cold here, but the flowers look nice with raindrops on them.

So what have we got here?

Jonquils, earlicheer, a daffodil, violets, white daphne, a simple daisy and a stem of love in the mist (I love that name). Any of your favourites?

I am going to aim to do a Bits and bobs post this coming Monday so I hope some of you might like to join in.

Bits and bobs... optical

Hello friends! I'm glad to say I survived my manic week at work and now have a couple of days off. So, it's time for Bits and bobs!

This time I have photographed my collection of vintage optical pieces. If  I had to guess, I'd say most of these bits date from around the 1940's. The majority came from a set I purchased a couple of years ago and came from USA, complete with photos of the optometrist and all the charts. A nice piece of history.

Well, I hope some of you can join in this week. I was so pleased to see that last time you popped around and visited each others' blogs. I for one am really looking forward to seeing some of your Bits and bobs!

Bits and bobs... neon pink

Hi everyone!

It's Bits and bobs time! I've gone for a neon/fluoro pink theme this time. I was never really into neon when it was fashionable in the 80's but I am loving it now.

In this image you'll see my bricklaying twine, a bracelet I made from said twine, paint, stationery, a print by artist friend Christine Scott and the paper Airvase. The vase is such an odd thing, typically thoughtful Japanese design. I expected it to be made from plastic, not the paper that it is, but it has real strength to it.

Well, now I hope that some of you join in. If you do, please either send me an email with your link or post it in the comments and I'll edit it into the body of this post so we can all check each others' Bits and bobs out. I think this could be fun! I for one am really looking forward to seeing your Bits and bobs....

Bits and bobs... in the garden + an invitation

Hello friends, today I have another Bits and bobs photo for you which is also a Friday Flowers!

I took this photo the other day after I wandered around what I thought was a pretty bare yard and discovered all sorts of bits and pieces.

The earlicheer is already blooming, as are fragrant violets, a few pansies, good ol' daisies, fuschia, geranium and I found some brighly coloured rosehips.

I would really like to continue on with this Bits and bobs series and I'd like to invite you to join in. I don't plan on setting a theme, that would be up to you and it can be anything really. A collection of mundane items in a similar colour, a collection of precious goodies, plants, leaves, bottles, food, buttons, jewellery. You could base it on a word - sew, pretty, cook, sparkle... the list goes on and on.

Bits and bobs... wood

This is hopefully the start of a mini series for me, a way to get a bit of bloggy mojo happening when there's not much else going on during winter.

As many of you will know, I love collecting little treasures, vintage bits and pieces as well as memories. I love those vintage-inspired specimen photos you see around the traps and so here's my first - a small collection of wood items from around the house.

Twigs, old cotton reels, letterpress letters and a beautiful children's shoe form (I adore this!).

I hope you might enjoy this and future photos.
Is it cold where you are? Boy, it's becoming a struggle to get out of bed in the morning. Brrrr!!!
