Anthropologie love (+more Molly)

Like many of you out there in blogland, I have long admired the goodies at Anthropologie. As the Aussies amongst us know, there is no store in Australia.  Well, I finally took the plunge and bought myself a couple of goodies online recently.

I bought this wonderfully colourful sheet set. I realise it is probably too over the top for the minimalists out there, but I love the fabric and pattern. I decided it was too pretty to cover up with a doona, so I turned the top sheet into a doona cover!

Molly really liked it when I layed it out on the floor. I thought the crazy pattern would also be good at hiding the paw prints that regularly appear on our bed.

Below is the doona and sheets on our bed. And wouldn't you know I caught a naughty, somewhat wet pooch (Molly) up there having come home from paddling in the nearby creek!

 And because I could I added this super cute ceramic punnet thingy in with my order. Pretty no?

Needless to say, I have the Anthro bug. I can't wait to do a spot of shopping there again, one day in person!

Stripey shopping

Do you ever get to the point when you are sick of everything in your wardrobe and everything seems worn to death and worn out?

Well, that's definitely me. I don't tend to buy a lot of clothes, and as much as I love fashion, I wear the same basics over and over. I live in jeans, tshirts and cardigans along with scarves.

I think the weather must have something to do with my 'blah' feeling and desire for colour. I'm a bit over winter and want the nice, warmer weather to come.

Today I treated myself by popping into the Country Road section at Myer. And this is what I came home with! Stripes + colour! I think I have a slight addiction to stripes. But that's a whole other story.

Have you noticed all the nice colour coming into the shops?

I'm so excited by it all, hence my choices today. Goodness only knows if the colours suit me and what I have to wear them with, but I know I'll feel a cheerier with these guys on. The linen scarf will come in handy and I'm told they go nice and soft after a few washes.

Melbourne shopping madness + crazy transportation

As part of our weekend away, birthday girl Selina had organised a super stretch 1957 Chevy Belair as our transport for a day out shopping.

I couldn't believe how big, or rather, long it was!

Everyone was really excited.

First stop was Essendon DFO where the girls went mad. Despite a huge array of shops and 3 hours browsing, I came away with only a cute pair of tights for my niece.

From there we went to Preston markets and seeing as we were in the area, stopped by the Elk store for a look. By this stage I had completely overheated in the back of the limo (ten excited women create a lot of hot air) and felt that sick I couldn't tolerate it anymore. They dropped me off home for a bit of a relax whilst they hit Brunswick street and came home with a big haul.

We had a blast. The reactions from other drivers and pedestrians were gold. People were waving at us and taking photos. They must have thought that someone special was in town. Correct!!

Weekend fun in Melbourne

Hi friends, well not surprisingly I had a great time in Melbourne last weekend.

If you didn't know, I flew over there for a friend's 40th birthday celebrations. Most of us (including the birthday girl) live in Tasmania, so it was nice to get away.

My friend Stephanie and I arrived late morning on Friday and met up with the others at our lovely Edwardian guesthouse in Fitzroy.

We dropped off our bags and took everyone out to Ikea for a bit of a shop. I bought a few small bits and pieces that no doubt will pop up on the blog in the near future.

After that, Steph and I popped down to the South Bank DFO for a spot of shopping. We then met up with the other 9 of us and dropped by the Finders Keepers Market in the gorgeous Exhibition Building. It was fantastic, with around 120 stalls, music, a bar and food. We all made some great finds.

Not wishing to wait the 45 minutes for a taco from the van outside the market we walked up the street to a pub where we sat outside and enjoyed a lovely meal. Home to bed for all of us!

My Christmas wishlist

I was tagged by Jennie from Posie Patchwork to create a Christmas wishlist.

Warning: this is going to be a bit boring!

Why boring? Well, I have to start by saying that we have been on the tightest budget imaginable this year. It's been interesting discovering that I can actually survive with very little retail therapy.

That's not to say that I don't wish for things.

So, my list...

*well, we all know I have been complaining that I haven't got an DSLR. Do you know what? I have been leaning towards the compact digital cameras pictured above. They have interchangeable, high quality lenses but none of the bulk. This needs more investigating me thinks.

* I would dearly love a new laptop, something that doesn't get so hot it's about to explode (I'm not using that one anymore).

* My silly wishlist item is a Cuisinart Icecream maker.

I have been obsessing over this for a while. Does anyone have one? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

* I'd quite fancy a new handbag as I've been carrying my old Countrty Road one for quite a few years now. I like relaxed styles and rather like this one from Mulberry. Dream on Sarah...

* if I'm going to get really crazy I'd say I'd wish for a Parisian holiday. Enough said...

BUT, realistically, I really don't care. We never do big gift Christmases. I do love seeing Molly unwrap pressies (sometimes not even for her, but she likes to help other people) with such enthusiasm and my big joy will be getting the family together for a meal.

Molly and the glowing bone

Molly wanted to show you all her mystical glowing bone.

I wanted to show you all how much I'd love a new camera.

Look at those eyes. She looks very hard done by for a very very spoilt doggy.

Here's the glowing bone highly camouflaged under a small pile of wood chips in the backyard. Better than being hidden in my garden beds. Thankfully she doesn't do that often.

While were on the subject of frustratingly unclear and strangely exposed photographic images, here are a few more gems for you all. Molly and I went shopping for dog biscuits and bones at the new Pet Barn that's opened up in Hobart. Pets are welcome to go shopping.

She was so excited by all the fantastic smells that I could barely keep hold of her. Hence the profusion of super blurry shots. Here she is selecting some stinky liver treats...

Lyndon refused to come with me as he was sure it was going to be an embarrassing shopping experience. He was convinced our innocent little girl was going to rip bones and chew toys from the shelves. I'm very pleased to report she didn't attempt to pilfer at all.

I can't really blame Lyndon for his wariness as a few years ago we took Molly to the Sorell Market for a look. She tried to take toys off a stall and even tried to pull a big stuffed toy from a little girl who screamed when she realised what was happening. Seriously embarrassing.

Thankfully no-one was shopping with their pet cat at the same time as us. That could have been interesting.

Pretty cushion from Ada & Darcy

A very pretty parcel arrived in the post the other day. After being very stingy with myself for quite a while, I decided to treat myself with a sweet cushion from Ada & Darcy. Look how prettily it's wrapped!

I have decided to spruce up the lounge with some new, bright cushions so this one is a good start. I have to recommend Kellie's lovely online shop - so many gorgeous and tempting things. Thanks Kellie :)
