I recently discovered the Bemz website. They make slipcovers for Ikea sofas. I'd love some new covers for my sofa and chair. I absolutely LOVE the gorgeous Designers Guild fabric in the image above, but could it be too much? (A bit out of my budget too).
I really like the soft blue and greens but I know I should be going for something in a muddy brown with a paw print pattern - much more suited to Molly and her dirty paws! Yes, I know she should never have been allowed on the couch but too late for that now.
Nice, don't you think? Such a great way to freshen up and change the look of a whole room. Plus, I love how you just throw them in the washing machine. Deciding which colours could be a big problem :)
PS would you believe I had just swapped over my covers to the pale ones (after just drafting this post) and in bowls the furry monster from outside with muddy paws. She runs straight up onto the couch! Sheesh...
Oh well, life goes on....
Wow and big pawprints too! Posts like this make me grateful I only have the vampire slayer...and that doesn't happen often!! Thanks for the steer to the website. My ikea chair is still fairly new but must keep this in mind x
ReplyDeleteThat such a great idea! There are some smart businesses out there aren't there!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh.... Molly makes me smile, I could just imagine her bounding in and straight for the lounge what a cutie pie. What about a faun sort of colour, that would probably blend into the dog prints but is still light and neutral so you can add greens and blues.
Even having a cat has it's down side when it comes to the lounge, 1st of all he loves sitting in my spot and second he put scratches in our leather when he was a kitten learning to jump up! Ahhhh I think gold fish are the safe way to go for furniture.

thats a cool idea.. how funny..so typical of our pets to jump all over new white furniture..
ReplyDeleteYou are so patient Sarah! We have a big dog too and he has to get brushed and his paws get wiped before he is allowed inside! Our cat seems to be much cleaner, however she picks her favourite spot on the lounge and watch out if you want to sit down. xx
ReplyDeleteI found that website too in the latest Home Beautiful but being a UK site makes it a bit pricey - oh well.... I hope the doggy paw marks wiped off for you - oops! ;-)
ReplyDeletemaybe you could turn them into a much sought after designer line, just get her to walk in different coloured eco-dyes and think up a very cool name (molly prints)...k.
ReplyDeleteLove slipcovers you can wash! Very necessary in this house, even with the strict rules of only eating at the table, no shoes inside etc,.etc,. The ones you've featured are lovely..Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have an ikea couch to get a cover for : ) I love the first one so bold but then iquite like the pale blue too! Nice to have options, much couch cover has only taken eight months and it's almost half done, but my mum is sewing it so I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteI knew our big labrador was an outside doggy for a reason ;) Thankgoodness for bleach! Miss Molly is such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteYes...exactly the same here in house with two dogs!!! ...o gosh my dear Molly...........happy day love Ria....
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like my dogs. Without fail, every time I mop, they go outside and find some mud to track in.
ReplyDeleteLove the thought of sprucing up IKEA with something fun like that.
ReplyDeleteLike you said, picking a color will be the hard one.
Strange how your surroundings find out what you just had done, just so that they can make it undone.
Mu husband REALLY wants us to get a dog and I have a feeling I can't say no, even after seeing what they do to nice furniture.

oh, those footprints are not welcome inside the house!!!! Will go and check the site, thank you for sharing this.

That's such a good find for covers- thank you! I remember our old newfoundland did the same just after I had cleaned and dried our cream covers for photos when we were selling. Lots of sighing (and huffing and puffing) from me that day!
ReplyDeleteThat lovely Sagrada fabric on the sofa would at least disguise the doggy footprints!! If not the cover, then maybe a cushion - I can see that you really do love it!
ReplyDeleteI banned Asha from our sofas a while ago, not because of muddy paws, but because of the hair I was constantly finding all over the place - drove me mad :) Love the idea of your couch covers that can be simply thrown in the wash.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words about our slipcovers and fabrics. We really appreciate it! FYI - we have our own in-house Bemz dog so are acquainted first hand with the dilemmas of pets and furniture. Take heart though - all Bemz slipcovers are family friendly: they are machine washable, most are stain protected, and for all you pet owners out there, the Belgian Linen blended fabrics are the best choice for you as they virtually repel pet hair.
Thanks again,
Christie at Bemz
