Friday flowers...blue

I have been enjoying using my new camera at every opportunity. Suddenly I have so many photos to show you all!
I picked these blue/purple flowers recently and photographed them on a black background. I could snap away all day. So, here we have a tiny viola, lobelia, a cornflower and a salvia bloom. I adore blue flowers and our front yard is full of them.
Well, it has been a busy week with events on at work and my market to get ready for. I'm pooped! Tomorrow is a day off and then Sunday I'll be busy at the market. Then Monday means I have to attend to all the mess I have created during this week!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Friday flower - agapanthus

For today's Friday Flowers I have a beautiful blue agapathus.

I bought these at the local Farmer's Market and they have kept so well. They're almost 2 weeks old and at only 50c a stem, that's great value!

I have photographed them from underneath as I was trying to avoid all the background kitchen clutter.
Wishing you a lovely weekend. I hope you have something fab planned!

Friday flowers - pretty blue

I just adore these pale blue ixias that have been blooming up a storm alongside our driveway.

They are a mass of the palest, icy blue colour.

They're quite an old-fashioned flower and mostly now I see the bulbs in bright pink colours (which I also love).

The bulbs do so well too. I don't remember where I bought these, but it was quite a few years ago now. That little handful of bulbs has mulitplied into a mass of them now.

Just so pretty!
Have a lovely day and even better weekend.

Painted sticks and magic puddings

Yesterday I painted a stick. Yes, a stick. And then I put the painted stick in my lounge room.
I must say, I rather fancy my new little grouping. Lyndon, on the other hand, thinks I am going mad.
(but I'm pretty sure he likes the look of my stick)

Doesn't my painted stick just finish it all off?

My lovely paper creation by talented friend Leonie Oakes.

A little group of inexpensive vases. The big one from Freedom, the middle one is a carafe from a local homewares store and the little green vase from good old friend, Ikea.
I adore the little cast crystal dress sculpture. It's by a New Zealand artist.

On to other things (though I doubt this is the last painted stick you will see from me... I'm thinking neon pink stickage next)...
Last night I cooked (for the first time ever) a coffee and chocolate self-saucing pudding.

This pic is from an old Donna Hay magazine, but mine did look the same.

I just don't get how it comes out with the sauce all separate and yummy?
It's like magic!
How does it do that? No, don't tell me, I like the magic of it. Great winter dessert goodness.
How are you Aussie readers enjoying The Block? I'm loving it though I wasn't so keen in last night's rooms.
Hope you are keeping warm.

Dinosaur Designs and Ikea goodies

I have been very slow with this post, but finally, here are the little goodies I acquired from the Dinosaur Designs Extinct store.
I resisted all the jewellery to buy a small resin plate, bowl and vase to go with the blue vase I picked up recently.

I think they're lovely, especially when the sun shines through them.

You might remember I had a quick stopover in Melbourne. I took the chance to run into Ikea for a  very quick looksee. I was hoping to pick up some more Ribba square frames but they didn't have any!
I had only about half an hour in store (how cruel). Given I also had very limited space in which to pack anything I purchased I decided on these three vases.

Those two larger ones were only $2.99 each! How crazy is that? Of course if you add in the cost of the shuttle bus to and from the airport, baggage storage and tram fare, they cost a lot more than $2.99.
Oh well.
Can you see a bit of a colour theme? I just can't help myself when it comes to blue glass. Blue anything for that matter.
ps. thinking I should have ironed my old tablecloth...

Friday flowers...white and blue

The iceberg roses keep on flowering but soon it will be time to prune them all for winter.
This week I have a bunch in my little turquoise glass carafe. Such a lovely colour in the sun.
I lost these pics while downloading them and whilst on the search in all my folders I realised I had taken (and posted) very similar pics of icebergs in mum's old lidless sugar jar. No surprise to me that I keep coming back to blue and white. It's the most perfect and timeless combination me thinks.
I wonder if my love for blue and white could be a genetic thing? Mum collected blue and white china, my sister also has a collection and many of you will remember my Spode Blue Italian china. But then, who doesn't like blue and white?
Anyway, have a great Friday bloggies. Hopefully you have something nice planned for the weekend. Me, I have to work. Oh well. You guys have enough fun for both of us :)
xx
ps about time my china birdies were freed from the glass dome. They'll be gagging for fresh air. What to display in it next though...

Bloggy award!

The lovely Nellie from McCarthy Designs and Hilary from a gal and her dog passed on an award to me last week. Thank you ladies!
I'm to list 7 things about myself and pass it on to fellow bloggers.
Righto, lets see if I can think of anything interesting...
  1. I have always loved animals. If I won the lottery I'd buy a big parcel of land and create an animal sanctuary where any neglected or unwanted animals could live out their lives happily.
  2. I like to sew and create art and when possible, I like to combine the two. I am strictly a jeans wearing girl but when I sew I like to use sparkles and beautiful lace. I have been lucky enough to win a few prizes with my creations, including a great prize of a brand new Bernina. Cool.
  3. I'm a fire bug (in a good, legal way). Having the wood fire here at Molly's Maison has helped me discover my talent for getting a good fire going. I can get flames out of a half warm coal and a bit of patience. I think it's a genetic skill passed down from my mother.
  4. I'm a fan of Musicals. I grew up watching The Sound of Music, Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, just to name a few. I love the happiness, the costumes, the songs - they're so much fun. Strangely, I've only been to see one stage musical, Wicked. I just loved it!!
  5. I must have been a Bower Bird in a previous life - I just love the colour blue. I live in blue jeans, love blue flowers, blue china and secretly think all bathrooms should have at least something blue in them. I've always loved blue and while I go through phases of liking other colours, I always come back to blue.
  6. I'm mildly obsessed by all things Parisian. I spent a couple of days there about 12 years ago and have been thinking about going back ever since. Standing at the top of the Eiffel Tower was simply beyond exciting! I can't explain the attraction..hmm, maybe something to do with the art galleries, gardens, the beautiful accent, fashion designers, croissants, champagne...  :)
  7. When I was a child I wanted to be an Egyptologist. My friend Zeta and I planned trips to Egypt where we were going to make incredible discoveries. Zeta was going to write about them and I was going to illustrate our discoveries and adventures. Mum and Dad said no to me studying Egyptology so instead I studied art. I'd love to see the pyramids but my rather romanticised view of it wouldn't include sharing the experience with hundreds of other tourists. I like the idea of sitting there on my own to ponder the mysteries. I girl can dream...
Why is it so challenging thinking of 7 remotely interesting things about oneself?
Well, passing this on to other bloggies I invite the following ladies to take part...only if they feel inclined...
Now I sort of ignored the versatile blogger award theme and chose people who's blogs I enjoy and a couple you might not heard of...
Anja from Everyday Angels- Everyday Beauty
Annelie from Nature As I See It
Janette from My Sweet Prints
Brismod from Fun and VJ's
Edwina from the Weekend Island

Please visit their blogs for a look!

Turquoise Part 2

I couldn't help but post a few more of my favourite pics from House of Turquoise. They're just so pretty. Sigh... I believe this last image was from Armchair Trader.

Not quite duck-egg

Still in my blue patch, we found this little rejected egg the other day - think it might be a blackbird. Very pretty colour.

I'm down to threee swatches for the studio wall so will get some samples soon. Still so much to do in there. I've lost count of all the coats of paint, maybe seven or eight. We will start on the shelving part this weekend.
