New cushion creations!

Time for the big cushion reveal!

These were made using fabric designed by Julie Paterson of Cloth fabric.

It's hand screen printed just out of Sydney on a lovely linen\cotton blend fabric which sews so well.

The prints I used are Wattle, Stoney, Rough Rose and Boardwalk.Quite Australiana.

Notice the fancy piping around the edges. That wasn't fun, but looks the part.

You can buy the fabric by the metre from the Cloth people or if you'd like smaller increments you can go to Duckcloth. Great service.

Above is my other cushion. This one is made using a lovely piece of Designers Guild fabric called Ramblas.

I crazily made a box-style cushion (what was I thinking - that's two lots of piping on one cushion!!) with stripey piping and side panels. I'm so pleased with the results.

And yes, those are threads that I haven't cut off yet. I was too excited to do that!

Looksee, on the reverse there's a different colour. I've buddied it up with a cushion from Ada and Darcy.

While I was sewing I also made a new cover for our little old Laura Ashley poofy/ottoperson/footrest.

I like the blue and cream stripes but wasn't so keen on the stains from Lyn's work boots and Molly's paws.

The new one is a slipcover in Cloth fabric Stoney in turquoise.

Above is another recent project I thought I may as well share whilst I'm banging on about my sewing adventures.

I made these cute pink and blue floral\spotty pillowcases for a friend who had been kind to me recently. I'd quite fancy some for my own bed :)

Well there you go my friends. One of my plans is to get a new set of covers for my couch this year. I'm so stuck on colours. I love white or cream but Molly dirties them too quickly. And no, I cannot keep her off the couch. Maybe a grey, or pale blue or green? Any thoughts? Something with a brown paw print pattern perhaps?

Well, I'm back to work today (booooo) but thankfully have dinner with two other bloggers, Jane and Kerry to look forward to. Very exciting!

Studio details

I'm still tidying and sorting out my studio room but here are a few snippets...

Lovely French lace (a great Ebay find) and below is my fantastic Penny Malone 'button'. It is hand stencilled linen and looks like a giant covered button. I just love it. Penny is a local Tassie artist.

Lots of books and my recent little purchase, a glass dome.

I'm really loving the pale blue wall colour, all those shelves and the chandelier.

A few more bits to organise and tidy up and waiting on the delivery of a rug. Oh, and the curtains! I'm planning on making some, maybe over my Christmas break :)

A pink and blue mantel

My latest colour addiction is a mixture of blue and white with a splash of pale and hot pink. So in the middle of winter which I must say has been very sunny and nice really, I thought I'd freshen up the mantelpiece.

A couple of pretty paperweights with a super sweet Voluspa candle.

I enjoy mixing up new with old, contemporary with decorative, unique with mainstream....hence a mixture of Spode china, Freedom vase, Target dish and market finds.

I still need a nice piece of art for over the mantel. Hopefully that might happen soonish but I am learning not to hold my breath!

Beautiful rugs on my wishlist

I have been on the search for a lovely rug for my studio room for some time now. I just love the Designer Guild numbers but they're unfortunately beyond my budget, as are the amazing rugs from Designer Rugs.

My current wishlist features a couple of the Amy Butler rugs - just gorgeous!

Hmm, apparently not available in Australia (despite being made in New Zealand) but I'm on the hunt :)

Photo number 6

The lovely Amanda from Homely One tagged me in the 6th photo bloggy game. I am supposed to go back and re-post my 6th ever photo again and then remember the moment.

Well, will tredipation I looked back, almost a year ago to discover it was the time when we started on our first major project, our lounge room. As you will see from the post, the room was uninhabitable thanks to the putrid state of it (which doesn't come up in pics). If you had a sniffing capability on you computer right now - you'd turn it off! It had been used as a toilet by a couple of small dogs prior to our purchase. Ugghhh!! The carpet was still wet and we ripped it up within half an hour of getting the keys on settlement day.

Man of the house and all-round master of the tools Lyndon took to the room with a vengeance! The only thing I think that would have improved this image above would be the addition of a tool belt - but then that's a whole other story...

What a mess it was...

Here is the room now...

As you can see Lyn jack hammered out the concrete, fitted new floorboards in the gaps, built in a new fireplace, installed the heater, removed old lights and power points and installed new ones. We had the floors polished and fancy cornice installed.We restored the windows, installed new skirting and picture rail that I sketched off the original and had made up. Finally we painted ( I fell off the ladder and knocked myself out!) and moved on in!
We both really love the room and it reminds us of what we will hopefully be able to do to the rest of Molly's Maison over time.
PS, here's a pic of our little furry helper. She discovered old bones under the floor which she ate and then vomited during the middle of the night! Yuck!

Bits and pieces

Our new cornice for the lounge room arrived yesterday and I am looking forward to seeing it up. We will get someone in to do it as apparently doing the corner joins, especially with a detailed design, is quite a skill and not one I am about to learn.
