Things...

...are busy, busy, busy. But I still always find the time for a nice cuppa. I do like this Kikki.K mug :)

Why so busy? Well, it's all go with my designing and market preparations. The market is on Sunday 28th July at the Masonic Temple, in Sandy Bay Road from 10-3 I think. I had better check those hours!

After weeks of tooing and froing with my printer via email I finally have a shipment to collect tomorrow. I am always nervous to see my new designs as you never know what they will look like. I am blowing up a postcard size image (literally) into something that's around 1x2 metres in size. Anyway, cross fingers they look good!

I have all of next week off work (yippee) to sew as I still have a heap to do for the wearable art event. Model fittings are in 2 weeks' time and I have very little ready. Very little. Gulp. I will just have to try my best and see what I can get done.

I think that's it. I'm so tired and scatterbrained at the moment!

Hmm, must be time for a cuppa! Sounds good to me.

Market success!

Well, the day didn't start off great. I was in recovery mode from chronic hay fever due to the high winds on Saturday and while getting everything sorted and packed I managed to break 2 mirrors. Yes. TWO mirrors. And cut my hand in the process. Well, it was either going to be a disaster or maybe the 2nd mirror was going to cancel out the superstitions of the first.

Thankfully I think the later was true :)

The market was a success!

The scarves received really great feedback and I sold 8 of my 9. Two are being sent to Montreal and another is going travelling to Europe next year. The scarves will be far more well travelled than me!

The little heart brooches I made from 1940's German glass buttons, vintage faux pearls and silk were also a success - I sold them all. I wish I had made more.

And funnily enough, the thing both Lyn and I thought would sell best, the Paris pouches, didn't do as well as expected, but that's fine, it means I can put them on Etsy!

Despite it being a long day I had a good time and it was great chatting to friends and meeting bloggy and instagram buddies for the first time. Thanks so much for dropping by!

What next?

Well, I have to tidy up my studio (crazy messy!) and then I will get a few little bits made that I will pop on Etsy. I have some scarves I hope will arrive today and will (maybe after Christmas) re-order some of the popular fabric that I will make into scarves again.

By the way, did someone mention Christmas? 

Only 3 weeks away? 

I have way too much to do!

My Parisian pouches

Thank you for all of your  supportive comments about my Parisian Scarves the other day.

It makes me feel I am on the right track. Only 2 days to go until it's market day for me so I thought I'd share more goodies with you.

Here are my Postcard Pouches.

Handmade by me from digitally printed organic cotton sateen I had printed by Spoonflower.

It's a lovely fabric. The designs have come from my postcard collection and the pouches show the front and the reverse of the postcards, with a zipper and simple calico lining.

MOD mantelpiece

Hi friends, a good morning to you all.

Whilst I was in Melbourne the other week I was very excited to be attending the Finder Keepers Markets where I knew I'd be able to see ceramics by The Mod Collective.

I'd seen their beautiful porcelain pieces online and thought they were beautiful. It was overwhelming to see all those beautiful colours and textures in the flesh.

How on earth I managed to decide on these two, goodness only knows.

Aren't they pretty?

The insides are glazed clear and the outside surface is matte in finish, but shows off the amazing textures well.

I'm very pleased with them and they now adorn the mantelpiece. I think they look lovely near my painting.

By the way, see that cute blue milk bottle in the top image? That's another coloured porcelain piece I discovered at Rose Street Markets. It had to come home with me :)

It's difficult resisting adding a few more colours to this small collection, but you really only need so many knick knacks, don't you think?

Well, I best get on with my day. This would have happened a LOT sooner if Blogger wasn't such a pain in the butt and posted this post back in time when I fist drafted it (last week). What use is that? Then when I tried to fix it, it deleted all content and posted it blank. Again, very useful and just the 'look' I was after Blogger, thank you.

Arrggh, so I have retyped and fingers crossed the darn thing works this time!

Melbourne wrap up + street art

My final Melbourne post! (I think) On Sunday morning a few of us walked up the road to the Rose Street Markets.

Probably the highlight for me, other than a few jewellery and ceramic stalls was the aerosol art that lined parts the street.The piece above was my favourite. So colourful!

Steph and I then caught a tram into town whilst some of the others went to a day spa. We had a delicious lunch at Laurent, a beautiful patisserie and boulangerie at the end of a laneway near Little Collins Street.

I enjoyed a baked veg and fetta tart. The cake selection was divine and so tempting, but I was super strong.

Yuuuummmmmm!!!!

Union Lane, between Bourke Street Mall and Little Collins Streets had the most amazing street art.

Ahh, the end of our trip. Of course by the time we got to the airport the airlines had decided to delay our flight, so we got home later than expected, very tired. Goodness only knows how many kilometres we walked, but I did wear a hole in the sole of my good pair of shoes!

My weekend: Sibella Court + getting jiggy with it...

Despite having to work on Saturday, I had a lovely weekend.

On Sunday Lyn and I went to the Valley Market in Lenah Valley where I picked up a lovely Christmas deccy to add to my collection. I'll show you when it's on the tree.

I also went to a book launch/ author chat at Fullers Bookshop yesterday afternoon where the guest speaker was stylist to the gods, Sibella Court. She chatted about styling, travel, collecting (not hoarding!) and colour. It was a great afternoon. She answered all of our questions and was super nice.

I had a lovely chat to her and she told me her next book, to be released next year, is about collecting. Sign me up!

And looksee, I had her Stylist's Guide to New York book signed for moi :)

One very interesting thing Sibella said about colour was when choosing a colour palette, if you get a bit stuck or confused, look at a bird and all the shades of colour in its feathers. She says that's her fall back. There you go peeps, a hot tip!

I also popped into the farmers market where I bought a bunch of peonies. They're still pretty tight buds but no doubt I'll photograph them a bit more once they open. The man who sold them to me said he'd just filled an order of 500 bunches for the Presidents Gold Cup on the mainland and also a big order for one of President Obama's dinner functions. Fancy.

We started a jigsaw...

We are now very obsessed.

All other Molly's Maison activities (including the things we need to do) have ceased while we work on this beauty.

My poor old neck is really feeling it!

I reckon at this pace we'll be finished tonight or tomorrow morning. So much for a bit of relaxing puzzle making.

Thanks for all of your lovely comments about the garden in my last post. I can assure you all our garden is far from perfect - I just show you the good bits :)

It's nice to get positive feedback though.

My market fun

As promised, some pics from the market yesterday.

Here is my little stall.

These goodies were made by Tonia at The Paper Shed. She was my market neighbour.

I had a very fragrant stall on my other side which was handy as we needed some new soap.

My only temptation was some macarons from one of the stall holders. This one is boysenberry flavour. The salted caramel one didn't last long enough to get a pic - it was amazing!

There were so many shoppers and thankfully some of them visited me :)

I did quite okay, I covered my costs and have a bit of spending money. Much of this is thanks to my friends who came along and supported me, as did a number of my bloggy friends. I had nice chats with Jane, Catherine and Hazel (who I met for the first time in person).

It was a fun day and I already have fresh ideas for my next market maybe early next year.
