Marimekko print

I am a bit slow in posting our Marimekko 'print', but here it is. We ended up deciding to put it on a diferent wall than planned and then that changed out furniture arrangement. We will probably put the dining table in this space when we get it here ( when it stops raining).
The fabric adds a very cheery feel to the room.
I purchased the fabric from the Marimekko store in New York and the ever capable Lyndon built the frame for us to stretch the fabric over. Quite nifty!

This pic shows our curtains. It was such a drama but they do look nice. The ones above make the ceilings look super high. Next time I need curtains I will make them myself though.
Have a good week!

Garden update

Despite all the horrible wet weather ( yes, I know we need the rain) I have managed to get some gardening done. Having said that, there is still a tonne to do.

My lilac has flowers which I think is very exciting - I wasn't expecting that this year.

My vegie patch is starting to look like a proper vegie garden. The broad beans, rocket and peas are doing very well. The raspberries are flowering as well.

My new apricot is flowering and I can just see signs of movement on the apple trees. Out the front I am sill digging up the side bed but the maple is enjoying being in the ground after 7 years in a pot. Molly loves the yard and spends a lot of time sticky-beaking through the gap in the back fence. She has a real "community interest".

New creations

I had a great week in Launceston though am still a bit pooped. It was a great class, lovely people and I learnt heaps. Here are two brooches I made from vintage tin and darkened copper sheet. The butterfly is silver sheet and the dew drop is a pearl.

I look forward to trying out a few new ideas in the near future ( when the studio gets set up in the spare room).
I also had to share the somewhat scary desert we were served on the last night. It consisted of chocolate jaffa sauce in the botton ( from the previous night's desert), some marshmallows, super sweet pink mousse and topping. Whoa.... :) It was quite something.

A creative week

This week I get a break from renovating and put my creative hat on. I'm off to Launceston for a week long workshop with Melbourne jeweller/artist Anna Davern.
Hopefully will be a lot of fun.

This pic came from Anna's blog.

Roses and freesias

I love the smell of freesia's and these wild ones picked by Mum by a roadside smell amazing. I'm not sure what the other flower is but I would like to find out.

I discovered my couch in a magazine via a blog I cannot remember ( sorry - I look at so many). It looks so lovely with all those cushions and framed piccys. Very nice.

A new look

I finally got around to re-covering the seat of my French chair with my Amy Butler fabric. Pretty easy once I managed to get the seat out as it was seriously wedged in between the arms. I borrowed an electric staple gun which worked a treat. The dips around the arms were not easy but the result is good.
It looks lovely with my Paradiso Perde (paradise lost) silk cushion by Tara Badcock.
A job well done.

Great mail day

I LOVE getting parcels in the mail.

Today I arrived home from seeing the movie "The September Issue", a documentary about Anna Wintour, editor of American Vogue magazine to discover my new Vogue mag in the mailbox. It got even better when I arrived at the front door to discover my parcel from New York. Woohoo!

Here is my Marimekko fabric - it's gorgeous! Screen printed in Finland, the quality is excellent.

It is super bright and cheery. Plus, it came in a cute Marimekko shopping bag. I'm a sucker for cute packaging.
