Vegies coming and going

It's coming to that time of the year where out in the vegie patch there is quite a lot of tidying up and preparation under way.
My corn is finished, my butter beans are almost all eaten (apart from the bags of frozen ones in the freezer for winter) and the tomato plants look terrible as the last few bits of fruit ripen. The cut tomato above is Black Russian and it is absolutely fantastic - so flavoursome! Pumpkins are being harvested.
I've got brocolli growing which I am looking forward to and am trying to get some carrots and beetroot going again (which would be easier if a certain furry fiend would stop running over the top of them).
Lots to do out there!
Have a great weekend :-)

  3. Oh, I'm so jealous Sarah. Our vegie patch was fabulous until the possums discovered it now we struggle to grow anything! Your vegies all look great.

  4. hi Sarah, your veggie patch sounds like mine, but i'm not harvesting my pumpkins just yet. I wait until the stalks are really woody, that way they last all Winter in the garage. I'm also on my last bag of beans in the fridge, so sad. but what i am picking now are late raspberries, which i have to bag on the cane or the birds get them, and trillions of feijoas or green easter eggs as i like to call them. also digging up spuds as i need them. it's all over too soon. cheers, |<..
oh, btw, i've changed my photo but it's still me in Bathurst.

  7. You grew all these?! They look delicious!!! I wish I had a green thumb. It's more like a brown thumb. Plants die when under my supervision. It's sad. Lol

  10. I asked for the book Harvest for my birthday this year, it must be so lovely growing your own. We grew some cherry tomatoes, strawberries and various herbs this past summer and the kids loved it. Enjoy your gardening..Rachaelxx

  11. Sarah, so funny that I'm on the other side of the world and just getting ready to put seeds in the ground for the summer as you are approaching the end of the growing season.
Thank you for letting me know the tree is a Magnolia, I have now given the picture its appropriate label.
