Around the garden

It has been a while since I have posted pics of what is happening outside in the garden. It's all starting to grow thanks to spring being in the air. I always have a vision of everything I plant coming into bloom at the same time and looking incredible, but of course that will not be the case. I can see that many of my spring bulbs will be long gone and looking straggly as my new roses come out. My hollyhocks may even take another year to be the tall stems of florally gorgeousness I visualise and goodness only knows where my pink calla lily might have been planted. Oh well.... I still enjoy what I see growing.

Above is the front garden prior to daisy pruning...below is after daisy pruning...
They'll grow back in no time.

My garden out the back is growing well. The new roses are all getting their leaves and the perennials are coming through as well...

The ferns are looking pretty well...

Above is my sweet little star magnolia who is flowering for the first time. So pretty.

The iceberg roses along the front fence are all growing well. There are tonnes of self-seeded yellow pansies growing below them.

And the vegie patch is doing ok. The peas are coming along, as are the broad beans. Silverbeet just hasn't stopped growing and the raspberries and strawberries are beginning to come along.
I'm also excited to see growth and even flower buds on my clematis. I need to mulch very soon in readiness for warmer weather.
I hope you have a nice Sunday :)

  6. I love your garden! I'm really going to get stuck into creating a little garden out of pots this year because I can't really grow anything in our rental yard. Wish I could have something like this to enjoy the sunshine in though :)

  10. Hi Sarah. Isn't it so nice to smell Spring in the air finally? That looks like some serious daisy pruning! Your garden looks lovely. I'm so jealous of your vegie patch - possums kept eating all our vegies so we've given up for now.

  17. Hello Sarah. Thank you so much for you comment on my blog concerning my Mom. I am so thankful that she is no longer suffering. God was so merciful in that! I love her so much and miss her so much, but I KNOW that she is in a much better place, and that someday I will be with her again. Such amazing Hope!!!

  20. I always love seeing your beautiful garden Sarah - it is so well laid out and everything looks so healthy. I'd love to sit your backyard and enjoy a cuppa with you and we could chat about all the plans we have for our homes and our gardens. I agree, Spring is such a lovely time, with Grace enjoying being outdoors, I've been finding I have more time lately to enjoy pottering around. We bought a vegetable planter on the weekend so we're all set to get our vegie patch up and running. Our roses are covered in buds at the moment too, I'm looking forward to being able to cut some to bring indoors. Hope you have had a great weekend x
