Out in the garden

The improving weather is really encouraging the garden to grow. Above are the delicate duck-egg blue ixias that are flowering down the driveway.

The iceberg roses along the front fence are starting to bloom and I am suprised at how big the blooms are. Very soon I'll be able to pick bunches to bring inside.

After my daisy massacre they are also coming back to life, along with the delphiniums (love love love delphiniums!) and irises.

My side patch with its profusion of spring colour. Just so gorgeous! It will be sad when the bulbs are done but I've got poppies, aquilegia, larkspur and cornflowers well on their way.

Above is an aerial shot of one of my beds. It's hard to see but it is thick with roses, lillies (which have multiplied), self-seeded larkspur from last year and my peony which has a decent looking bud or two.

It's all happening in the vegie patches. Above you can see Butter Beans at the front, raspberries and strawberries on the left, peas, lettuce and carrots on the left and in the rear bed there's broad beans and recently planted corn, pumpkin, silverbeet, leeks and squash.

Look! Peas! My absolute favourite, these are like lollies for me. Despite the fact I planted double I did last year, I still suspect none will make it into the kitchen...I sit out there and munch away as fresh is definitely best. I ate those above after I took the photo!
Have a lovely week everyone xx

  3. I just adore your garden Sarah!! Those ixias look especially pretty - are they the type of flower you could pick and put in a vase? I do hope we make it to Tasmania again one day just so I can come and visit and enjoy a cuppa with you in your beautiful garden :) Hope you have a wonderful start to your week x

  11. Sarah, you have such a pretty cottage garden. You obviously have a green thumb. I love fresh peas as well and also eat them before they hit the kitchen. Our garden has been seriously neglected due to so much rain.. We started to regain control last weekend but there is a long road ahead. ;-)

  15. Hi Sarah, you put me to shame with your vegie patch! We have broad beans (coming to an end) and just planted tomatoes - and have herbs aplenty! My issue is trying to find the time to give it the TLC it needs. p.s Thanks for stopping by my blog! Here's to sharing each other's renovation's stories (hopefully not horror ones!!)
