Coming and going

While on the other side of the world spring is in full swing, here in Australia we are heading through autumn into winter. I am tidying up the garden and getting ready for spring to come along with hundreds of bulbs I have planted (I've almost got the job done). These are my very rustic looking sunflower heads that flowered over summer. I've mulched their stems and the heads will be heading of to my Dad to feed to his birds (I'll keep a handful to plant again this year). I tried a sunflower seed yesterday and it tasted great.
I just loved the dried up textures and so thought, "they need their photo taken". Lyn thought I was mad, but then he often has that thought...
Have a great week!

  1. I don't think you're mad...I especially love that 2nd photo. And I really like that the plant is getting used in so many lovely ways.

  2. I cannot wait to see all those bulbs you've planted in flower - your garden is going to look amazing!! Sunflowers are such happy flowers - I hope you were able to enjoy them while they were flowering for you - and that your dad's birds enjoy them in their current state :) Have a wonderful start to your week xx

  14. I'm starting to panic that I've done nothing about spring bulbs yet, especially when I read how much you've been up to in your garden Sarah. I picked the last of my dahlias yesterday and am feeling strangely bereft!! Love that fern photo. xx

  15. Your Dad's birds will be so happy! I would have taken a picture of those too. I am sure that they were so pretty on full bloom! (I still think that they are pretty)
It is so strange to think of you going into fall. We are watching everything finally green up and bloom. I am so ready after a cold and snowy winter.
Enjoy your fall, as I enjoy my Spring. This is one of the really fun things about blogging; hearing about people's live on the other side of the earth!

    Have a wonderful day,
    Joyce

  17. I'm super impressed with your bulb planting. I will attempt to plant my first ever bulbs soon - I have them in the freezer at the moment as I have been told that the Qld winter is not nearly cold enough. Hope I am doing the right thing! By the way, your storage unit is absolutely amazing. I can't believe you made it yourselves.
