Look what Lyndon scored for me at the Tip Shop yesterday!
It's a 1950's Singer sewing machine!
It's the electric version and apparently doesn't work. That's ok, it's great to look at.
My tiny collection of vintage thread spools - I love these.
No base either. I did see one on the internet yesterday that had a green bakelite base, that would have been cool, but oh well.
Vintage pantyhose thread and needles that I adopted from my great Auntie Ila.
Can you guess what we paid for this beauty??
I bet you won't guess correctly - it was too much of a bargain!
Would you believe $5????!!! What a bargain!
Now where to display it?
Have a great week.
ps feeling a lot better now thanks. Just snuffly and coughs now :)
xx
Sarah, what a wonderful find. $5? Wow, it's certainly a good start to your week! Catch you soon. Emma
ReplyDeleteFantastic, don't you love finding those sort of treasures? ;-)
ReplyDeleteNO WAY!!!!! I LOVE IT! I can't believe it was only $5! That is so brilliant! It goes to show that fantastic things happen to fantastic people!!! I am so happy for you, I would have snapped that up at a running pace!!! (And I do not run at all!) Every time you look at it you will appreciate it's beauty! X
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable, Sarah. Bravo you. I am going to start collecting vintage spools and bobbins, I have decided. I'll have to peek at Etsy and eBay, I guess. J x
ReplyDeleteFIVE BUCKS! No way! You totally scored!
ReplyDeleteI love old singers. And I also have a vintage spool collection and other goodies from my Grandma's sewing basket - I treasure them.
Can't wait to see where you end up displaying it!

Bargain, what a great find. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteI used to love that Tip Shop there, it was wonderful. I saw an old Singer at our tip shop recently and they wanted $350 for it, no way!! it was very damaged. You've got a wonderful bargain. Pleased to hear the snuffles are going, k.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great bargain! Not so many bargains to be found at Margate tip. Maybe we don't visit frequently enough!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous find for five dollars! I wonder how much it's worth??? Off to read some more of your blog... gxo
ReplyDeleteGlad you are better and wow, she is gorgeous! Hope you find a great place to display her!! :))
ReplyDeleteWhat a bargain find!! Well done and it will look great in your home. I do see the stands everynow and then on ebay.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful find, why do people throw these things away? Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteHUGE score!! I'm going to take my mother's Singer, it's 1890s industrial & electric!! Still works & had the table attached with the world's largest foot pedal in cast iron. It was her mother's-in-law & it's incredible. I particularly love the drawer which takes the world's strongest man to open, such childhood memories of how mum kept the good scissors away from us, locked in that dreadful drawer. Love Posie
ReplyDeleteOMG it beautiful! What a find. A-M xx
